Your Plan Didn't Fail. You Quit on Tuesday.

Most plans don't die in the doing.

They die on Tuesday.

Monday goes beautifully. The plan's working. You're feeling like a Fortune 500 CEO with a slightly worse coffee machine.

Then Tuesday turns up.

The phone rings. A customer needs you. A team member "just has a quick question" (it's never quick). A shiny new idea lands in your inbox.

And just like that, the plan's in the bin.

THIS WEEK'S IDEA: PLANS DIE ON TUESDAY

Here's the part most business owners miss.

The plan didn't fail.

You stopped following it.

Most people respond by building a better plan. New planner. New app. New colour-coded system that looks fantastic for about four days.

That's not the fix.

The fix is to stop letting every distraction become the new priority. Once your attention gets pulled in five directions, you don't have a planning problem anymore. You've created a disorder.

I don't judge a plan by how it looked on Monday morning. I judge it by whether you can still follow it when the week gets messy.

PROOF FROM THE FIELD

A mentor of mine, Peter Wrench, has a line I come back to every time I catch myself drifting:

"The version of me that built my calendar was making better decisions than the version of me who's just trying to get through today."

Think about it.

Sunday-night you was calm. Thinking clearly. Looking ahead.

Tuesday-afternoon you is putting out fires with a cold coffee in one hand and three browser tabs you don't remember opening.

Which one would you trust with your business?

That's why you go back to the plan. Not because it's perfect. Because it was built with intention.

THE BLUNT TAKE

Your calendar isn't there to control your week.

It's there to stop your week from controlling you.

If you're drifting, you don't need another plan. You need to go back to the one you built when you were thinking clearly – and follow it when something else is screaming for your attention.

That's where discipline matters.

Not when it's easy.

On Tuesday.

THIS WEEK'S CHALLENGE:

Between now and Friday, jot down every time something pulls you off your plan – what it was and where it came from. Nothing fancy.

On Friday, look at the list and ask yourself:

What keeps stealing my focus after I've already decided what matters?

Pick the biggest one.

Find it. Remove it. Then get back to the plan.
